Faced with a lack of fair and accessible markets, Nebraska farmers began organizing Farmers Union creamery coops in Antelope County in 1911. By 1913, the Farmers Union cooperative movement had spread across the state and Nebraska Farmers Union (NeFU) became chartered and affiliated with National Farmers Union. Since 1911, NeFU has organized an amazing 445 cooperatives across the state.

Our grassroots organization includes farmers and ranchers of all sizes and kinds including small town and rural businesses and communities as well as food, conservation, renewable energy and rural advocates who work together on behalf of family farm agriculture and a better food system.
